It shows a servant who destroys her mistress in order to marry the husband. The dead woman's spirit returns asking for vengeance, and the daughter proceeds to avenge her mother. She buys a bag of poisonous adders, and before entering her step-mother's room permits the reptiles to sink their fangs into her arm. She discovers the lifeless body of the guilty woman, and learns that her father has committed the deed. The picture ends with a wonderfully acted scene between the father and daughter, in which she sinks to the ground, dying from the snakes' poison. Written by
