On New Year's Eve, December 31, 2006, Williams flies five school friends to Denver, Colorado for a party. Soon after midnight, on January 1, 2007, a vehicle pulled up beside Williams' rented Hummer H2 limousine in downtown Denver. Williams and two other passengers were shot. Williams was killed during this drive-by shooting at approximately 2:10 AM. The two other passengers injured in the shooting were both released from the hospital the day after.
