She raised him like most single dedicated moms do, without any male figures around. Jerry would describe himself as unhappy, angry and untrusting, which he managed to keep all inside. On the other hand his friends see him as just the opposite, successful, happy, and blessed. Even at the age of 30 Jerry still thought there were things he needed to learn. Because somethings black boys can only be taught by black men. Since he was a young boy, Jerry has been keeping a list titled "Things I wish my father had taught me", which are things about life he either taught himself or learned from someone else.
