Description

Until now, finger joint prostheses are known to replace the finger joint. Furthermore, hip joint prostheses with a joint head and a curved one are used
Handle to replace the femoral head, with either the natural or the artificial socket serving as a counterpart.

It has now been found that other joint prostheses with a head, an intermediate piece and a
Let the shaft be used to replace the shoulder joint head. The present invention is therefore a prosthesis which is characterized in that the
Intermediate piece is formed by a conical and a cylindrical or also conical section, the axes of which form an angle of about 165 with each other and wherein the one section is coaxial with the head and the other, which has to serve as an extension of the humerus, with the one drilled into the To insert the medullary cavity of this bone, the straight shaft runs coaxially, and that the prosthesis consists of reinforced plastic, its elasticity corresponding to the elasticity of the humerus.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing. In the drawing shows: Fig. 1 shows a prosthesis inserted into an upper arm in
Front view, FIG. 2 a part of the prosthesis in side view and FIG. 3 a section along the line III-III in FIG. 2.

The prosthesis shown consists essentially of three
Parts, the head 1, the intermediate piece 2 and the shaft 3.

The intermediate piece has two conical sections 21 and 22, the axes of which form an angle of approximately 1650 with one another and wherein the section 21 runs coaxially with the head 1 and the section 22 runs coaxially with the straight handle or shaft. While the stem 3 is intended to be inserted into the drilled out medullary cavity 41 of a humerus 4, the middle piece 2 is intended to form the continuation of this humerus. The surface of the shaft is therefore provided with longitudinal notches 31 and annular grooves 32 into which the bone substance can grow in order to connect firmly to the prosthesis. In contrast to this, the intermediate piece 2 has irregularities 23 which are used to fix the soft tissues.

The head 1 has four bores 11, 12,
13 and 14, which converge inside the head and which can be used to sew and knot the muscles.

The prosthesis consists essentially of tissue-compatible plastic, for example an acetal resin, and has a metal insert 5 serving as reinforcement, the ha ken-shaped part 51 in the head 1 and the straight part 52 in the
Intermediate piece 2 and a part of the shaft 3 is accommodated, while the lower end of the shaft 3 is free of liner so that a screw 6 can be inserted through it, which essentially prevents the prosthesis from rotating on the bone as long as it has not yet grown sufficiently.
