[Also in Division F1] In a cooling fan assembly for an I.C. engine pressurized coolant system, a flexible or rolling diaphragm 18 is subjected to the coolant pressure which, in turn, is dependent on coolant temperature, to cause the diaphragm to force clutch plates 25, 26, 27 into engagement and thereby cause the fan to be driven when the coolant pressure exceeds a predetermined minimum. Plates 25, 27 have peripheral lobes which engage in splines in housing 14.
