1,188,671. Endless conveyers. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 May, 1967 [22 Feb., 1966], No. 7711/66. Heading B8A. Each of a number of unloading points for carriers of an overhead endless chain conveyer comprises a reciprocable pusher 4 which is selectively operable. The pusher 4 is actuated by a motor 17 via a worm drive 21, 24, a rack and pinion unit 25, 27 and a crank device 19, 20. Rollers 44 reduce friction between the pusher head 7 and the load, and rollers (45), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), prevent the head 7 from scraping along a carrier platform 3. The carriers are suspended from a rail 1 and comprise a frame 2 from which a flange 3a formed on the platform 3 depends. This flange travels along the rear side of a guide rail 29 which has rollers 30 and is mounted on a stationary framework 8. The rail forms part of a parallel linkage which is spring-urged upwardly, the arrangement allowing for small variations in the level of the carrier as it passes the framework 8. The carrier is also guided by a rail 28. Pusher control.-For initiating the discharge of a carrier a control switch A, B or C at an unloading point is engageable by a member 42 which may be selectively inserted into one of three slots 41 (a, b or c) in a channel-shaped member 41 on the carrier. The switch A, B or C is in a control circuit for the motor 17 and by choice of the slot 41 to receive the member 42, the load of the selected carrier is discharged by the pusher at the chosen unloading point. If the pusher remains in its forward position after pushing the load off a carrier, a wire (47) on the pusher, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), fouls the carrier and a cut-out is operated to stop the conveyer. The loads are preferably carried on trays or pallets and may be transferred on to auxiliary conveyers provided at each unloading point.
