Abstract

1296770 Feeding sheets DE LA RUE INSTRUMENTS Ltd 28 Oct 1971 [24 Nov 1970] 55743/70 Heading B8R A sheet separating device has a pneumatic suction arm 3 oscillatable on a shaft 21 and a bearing portion 4 adapted to engage the foremost sheet of a pile N through the operation of the device, the pile being biased, e.g. by a spring means or a weight operating via leverage, towards the bearing portion, oscillation occurring about an axis substantially coincident with a line of contact between the foremost sheet and the bearing portion, means, e.g. rollers (9), Fig. 3 (not shown) and segmental rollers (10), being provided to seize the seperated sheet. The suction arm 3 has a sheet engaging face 6 and is mounted on an eccentric hollow shaft, vacuum being applied via a pipe 25 and the shaft to the face 6. Sheets may be separated from the top or bottom of a horizontal pile or from a pile on edge, a lip (2) preventing double separation and the bearing portion urging the pile backwards and forwards during oscillation of the eccentric shaft to jog the pile.
