1389186 Chromones CHEM PHARMAZ FABRIK DR HERMANN THIEMANN GmbH 8 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 6248/73 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R<SP>1</SP> = alkyl optionally substituted by a terminal OH, NH 2 , alkylamino or dialkylamino group, aralkyl, cycloalkyl ; R<SP>2</SP> = H, aryl, R<SP>1</SP> or NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP> = piperidino, morpholino, piperazino, N-alkylpiperazino, pyrrolidino; R<SP>3</SP> = H, alkyl optionally substituted by a terminal NH 2 , alkylamino or dialkylamino group, acyl, haloacyl, provided that when R<SP>2</SP>=H, R<SP>3</SP> is not acyl or haloacyl) and their acid addition salts are prepared by (a) reacting 3-hydroxychromone with R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>NH in the presence of an oxidizing agent or reacting 2-chloro-3-hydroxychromone with R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>NH, optionally followed by acylation or alkylation in each case, or (b) alkylating 2-chloro-3-hydroxychromone and reacting the product with R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>NH. The above compounds may be used in the treatment of paranoia, schizophrenia and anxiety states in neuroses and in vegetative dystonia, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
