Abstract

1455915 Tape cassettes KIENZLE APPARATE GmbH 3 Sept 1974 [8 Sept 1973 38455/74 Heading B8M Part B A printing ribbon cassette comprises spool cases 1 and 2 and a bridge 3 providing a space 4 for reception at 10 of a needle print head 5. The cases and extended walls thereof guide the ribbon and form exit and reentrance openings 12 and 13 between which ribbon 14 passes under tension through the print position 9 on a path of minimum unsupported length. Recesses 18, 19, enable the introduction of levers 23 to sense the ribbon available (and accordingly initiate control of the direction of drive to the spools). Retaining levers 21, 22, which normally engage recesses 20 in the cassette lid are rotated to free the cassette e.g. for replacement. Winding cores, Fig. 2 (not shown) for the spools are internally toothed for positive connection to drive means (not shown) and enable hand winding and rewinding in a detached cassette.
