1495713 Open:end spinning of core yarn SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 4 Dec 1974 [22 Dec 1973] 52486/74 Headings D1D, D1F and D1W In a method of making a core yarn in an open end spinning machine, core thread is led into the rotor along the axis of the spinning rotor, is deflected in the rotor and led to the collecting surface of the rotor, is positioned over part of the collecting surface, is twisted with fibres on the collecting surface about the axis of the core yarn being formed, and is removed along the axis of the rotor. Core thread 6 fed through shaft 10 forms a loop 60 in rotor 1. False twist is imparted to the thread which collects an outer layer of twisted fibres from collecting surface 18 to form core yarn 7. The loop, which may be as long as surface 18, is formed by the delayed start of rollers 3. The thread may be fed in the opposite direction through the rotor. A thread guide tube may be located within shaft 10. The tube may be rotated in dependence on or independently of the rotor. Thread 6 may be a mono- or multi-filament yarn and may be twisted, textured or delustered. The core thread may consist of threads of different types, e.g. differing cross-sectional shapes, or may be produced by an open-end spinning rotor in axial alignment with rotor 1.
