Abstract

329,255. Osda, Ltd., and Young, C. R. Sept. 26, 1929. Office desks. - A typewriter desk has a typewriter support suspended in parallel links so that it may be supported in a raised forward position, or alternatively may be lowered to a position beneath the table top and thus leave the top clear for other uses when the machine is not in use. Fig. 1 shows a desk with a machine support 5 on parallel links i. In the position shown it is supported by a cross-bar 8 pivoted at 9 and resting on a catch 10. A cover, hanging approximately vertically, may be hinged to the front edge of the cover 3. In a modification, members 11, Fig. 4, are hinged to the underside of the support 5, and may be Engaged with grooves 13 to uphold it, and in another modification spring-actuated sliding cross. bars 14, Fig. 5, are fitted so that they may be thrust out laterally by a wedge-shaped block 15 moved by a handle 11; alternatively, this block 15 may be connected by a chain to a part of the table so as to move the members 14 automaticallv as the support, 5 is lifted.
