Abstract

403,578. Pivot hinges. DEAN, W., Victoria Works, Accrington Road, Burnley. June 19, 1933, No. 17471. [Class 65 (ii).] A mangle 16 is detachably mounted on a washing copper in pivoted sockets to move into a lowered position on the copper or into a raised position in which it is locked for use. The mangle 16 is carried by grooved arms 15 secured by screws 18 in sockets 11, 12 provided with pivot pins 13 extending into holes 10 in brackets 7, 8 mounted on the plate 2. The brackets 7, 8 are spaced so that the pins 13 may slide in the holes 10. When the socket 11 is brought against the bracket 7 the mangle may be rotated ; and when it is vertical, a dog 19 on the bracket 8 engages a recess 20 in the socket 12, in which it is locked by tightening a nut 21 on the end of pin 13. The other pin 13 may be locked to the socket 10 by a pin passing through holes 24, 25.
