Abstract
417,642. Folding cardboard &c. boxes. SHIRLEY, R. L., 31, Holloway Road, Holloway, London. May 30, 1934, No. 16141. [Class 18.] A cardboard &c. folding box of the type wherein opposite side walls have at their upper edges inwardly directed flanges which provide a support for the closed lid have these flanges 16, 17, 18, 19 triangular in shape and reinforcing flaps 28, 29 constituted by material removed to form the apertured top are hinged to the upper edges of a side wall 23 or 24 between two of the flanges which rest on the bottom and reinforce the sides. The box may be made from the blank shown in Fig. 1, the body being held by an attachment lap 15. When a display lid 32, Fig. 3, is used which folds about a creased, perforated or incised line, a sheet 36 is used to prevent ingress of dust, such sheet being attached to the lid or hinged to the body so as to be detachable. A tongue 22 may engage notches 116, 118 in the flanges 16, 18 to hold the lid in display position, and a tongue or tongues 37 may be provided for opening the box which may rest on the top edge of the front wall 13.
