[Class 122 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In an internal-combustion engine, a tight joint between a cylinder liner 4 and head 1 is effected by a pair of wedge-sectioned rings 7, 8 of a soft metal or alloy, e.g. aluminium, which are tightened by flanges 6, 9 when the head is screwed down.
