Abstract
616,117. Induction heating. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BAKER, W. F. Aug. 28, 1946, No. 25753. [Class 39 (iii)] A flux concentrating element, within an induction coil, (not shown) comprises a cylindrical block 1 with a work receiving bore 3 adapted to receive a seamed tubular work piece. 4. Immediately above the work receiving bore 3 is a second bore 8 communicating with it and forming a figure 8 in cross section. A radial slot 9 extends along the entire length of the block 1. The second bore 8 extends for the greater part of the length of the block except for two arcuate portions 9 which form the flux concentrating members. The block may be hollow to allow for water cooling.
