[Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a single-acting, two - stroke, internalcombustion engine cylinder, scavenging ports 12 are formed in a part 25 of the liner which is detachable so that it can be lowered enabling the piston to be inspected or removed, with or without the part 25, through openings in the wall of the scavenging air chamber 3 normally closed by covers 27. The scavenging pump 30 is either located below the chamber 3 and supplies air through a hole 32 in the partition 20 forming the chamber, or supplies air through conduits below the chamber.
