904,622. Pipe joints. ROHDEWALD, A., and KLAUSS, H., [trading as TORFITWERKE G. A. HASEKE & CO.]. June 20, 1961, No. 22156/61. Class 99(1). In a sleeve joint only for asbestos-cement pipes 11, 12 elastic rubber packing rings 13, 14 having sawtooth shaped inner surfaces and smooth cylindrical outer surfaces 13a, 14a are interposed between the sleeve 10 and the pipes, the rings being housed in annular grooves 17, 18 of rectangular cross-section in the sleeve and being interconnected by a sleeve-like distance piece 15 having a buffer ring 16 projecting between the pipe ends. The inner surfaces of the rings may be completely or partially covered with, e.g., thin sheet lead 19 or a plastic such as polytetrafluroethylene.
