Abstract
PURPOSE:To form an always high quality image even in making a large number of copies in the method for developing an electrostatic latent image using a one- component type insulating toner charged by friction, by providing a cellulosic resin layer on the surface of a material for imparting friction charge to said toner. CONSTITUTION:Nonmagnetic cylinder 4b is rotated in the arrow direction, one- component type insulating magnetic developer (toner) 11 fed from developer container 12 is spread on the surface of cylinder 4b, is friction-charged simultaneously to a reverse polarity to that of an electrostatic latent image, leveled with doctor blade 10 to a given thickness, and toner 11 is transferred to the electrostatic image on image bearing surface 1. Inside the cylinder 4b fixed multipermanent magnets 9 are provided. In said apparatus, a cellulosic resin layer of about 10mum thickness, such as cellulose acetate-butyrate is formed on the surface of nonmagnetic cylinder 4b to cause friction charging.
