To all whom it may concern:
ment in Electric-Lamp Sockets, of which Be it known that I, Anvm H. Nmzo, a citizen of the United States of America, and residin at New Britain, in the county of Hart 0rd and State of Connecticut, have 1nvented a certain new and useful Improvethe following is a specification.
My invention relates to electric lamp sockets and particularly to the type of socket known as the candle lamp socket. The special object of my invention is to prov de a device which may be applied to an ord nary lamp socket in order to form therewith an electric fitting of the candle type.

Referrin to the drawings, my invention is here il ustrated in connection with a socket of ordinary construction having a casing 10, the cap 11 of which is provided with a boss 12 adapted to be screwed upon a fixture pipe 13 through which wires are led to the socket in well known manner. The latter may be of any suitabletype. I have here shown it of the switch type with pull chain 14 for operating the switch mechanism. The socket as usual comprises an 1nsulating body 15 upon which are mounted the lamp-receiving screw shell 16 and center contact 17, together with insulating linlng 18 surrounding the screw shell and in the present case somewhat shortened so that 1t lies within the open end of the casing instead of extending slightly beyond the latter as is ordinaril the case.
The fitting to w ich my invention particularly applies consists essentially in an extension lamp receptacle and means for su porting and electrically connecting t e screw shell 19 and center contact 20 thereof to the corresponding terminals of the standard socket, together with an insulating casing 21 simulatin a candle and adjacent the outer end of w ich the receptacle is arranged. In the particular construction here shown IV have accomplished this end by and 33, the former mounting the screw shell 19 of the receptacle upon a pair of standards 22 and 23, the an g ed outer ends of which are riveted to the usu al base flanges of the receptacle, while their mner ends are effect at 24 to lie within the outer edge of a similar screw shell 25 to which they are riveted, thus aflording a me- 29 and standard 26 thereto. The upper end of the standard 26 is maintained'in centered position with relation to the screw shell 19 and'lnsulated therefrom by means of a disk' 31 of insulation which is perforated at 32 shank of the standard and the second perforation, viz. 33, receiving the recurved end 34 of the standard, leaving the bridge piece 20 exposed above the disk 31 for engagement by the center contact of the candle lamp 35. The disk 31 is provided at 0 posite points on this mar '11 with In 36 which take into recesses 37 ormed in t e wall of the receptacle 19, thus ositioning the center contact accurately wit relation to the screw shell. The disk and center contact are the rivet which fastens the lower end of the standard 26 since the standards 22 and 23 are of such predetermined length with relation to the standard 26 that in the adjusted position of the latter the disk 31 is held firmly against the opposite bottom flanges of the receptacle 19;
The candle-like casing 21 of the fitting rests, in adjusted osition, against the outer end of the lnsulatmg linin 18 of the socket and forms a continuation t ereof extending outward a suificient distance to incase the receptacle 19. The casin may be of glass or other insulating materia made of candle.
The present invention afiords an inexpensive fitting which may be applied to standard sockets to. transform the latter into paper glazed to simulate a wax perforation receiving the retained by but is preferably chanical and electrical connection between 28 and mechanically securing and. electrically connecting both center contact thereon, a lamp receptacle having a shell contacts, a lam socket havin fie standard socket, and an indefixtures of the candle type. Inasmuch as no I I will readily occur to those skilled in the art without departing from what I claim as my invention.
I claim as I my invention 1. A fitting of the type described, comprising'lamp receptacle contacts, plu contacts, standards spacing said receptac e and plug contacts apart and formin the sole means for electricall and mechanically connecting the same, su stantially as described.-
2. A fitting of the type described, comprising lamp receptacle contacts, plug contacts, standards spacing said receptacle and plug contacts apart and forming the sole means for electrically and mechanically connecting the same, and a tubular insulating casing separate therefrom but adapted to inclose said contacts. 4
3. A fitting of. the type described, comprising a lug having an insulating button, screw shel and center contacts mounted contact mechanically and electrically connected to the plug shell contact, and a stand; ard having a foot iece resting against the inner face of said utton and means piercing the button to unite said foot iece to the plu center contact, said standar extending to 51c receptacle and forming, at its upper end, the center contactof said receptacle.
4. A fitting of the type described, com-' prising a plug having screw shell and center receptacle having a shell contact mechanically and electrically connected to the plug shell contact, and a standard extending from the plug center contact to the receptacle and forming, at its upper end, the center contact of said receptacle, together with aninsulating disk engaged by said end and serving'as the sole means to maintain the latter in centered relation to the screw shell.
' 5. A candle socket fitting, comprising a standard lamp socket having an insulating casing, a screw shell contact therein, an insulatm separating said shell and casing an spaced mm the outer end of the casing, in combination with an extension contacts adapted to engage-the contacts of t pendent tubular insulating casing inclosmg said extension socket and its connections an sleeving into the standard socket casing and resting against and forming a continuation of the insulating lining of the latter, substantially as described.-

A. fitting of the type described, comprising lamp receptacle contacts, an insulatmg disk spacing the same apart, lplug contacts, an lnsulatin button to w iich said contacts are secure and by which the are spaced apart, in combination with stan ards forming the sole means for spacing said receptacle and plu contacts apart and mechanically and e ectrically connecting the same, substantially as described.

A candle socket fitting comprising a screw shell plug contact, an insulating button secured to the enterin end of said shell, a center contact carried said button, a standard extending from t e inner face of said button, means iercing the button and serving to unite said standard and center .tact, a screw shell side contact for said receptacle, a, standard directly connecting said contact with the shell contact of the plug,
and insulating means s acing apart the center and shell contacts 0 said receptacle.
8. A candle socket fitting comprising a screw shell plu contact, an insulating button secured to t e enterin end of said shell, a center contact carried fiiy said button, a standard extending from the inner face of said button, means piercing the button and servingto unite said'standard and-center contact, a lamp receptacle havingwthe upper end I of said standard as its center contact, a screw shellside contact for said receptacle having a pair of base flanges at its opposite sides, a pair of standards extending from opposite sides of said plug shell and directly connected to said base flanges, and insulating means spacing apart the center and shell contacts of said receptacle.
9. A candle socket "fitting comprising a lamp receptacle element and a plug element, both with screw shell and center contacts, a pair of standards spacing said elements apart and mechanically and electrically connected to the shell contacts. thereof in combination with a third standard electrically connected to the plug center contactand extending to and forming at its outer face the center contact of the lamp receptacle, together with an insulating disk engaged by said center contact standard and serving to position the latter within the base of the screw shell of the lamp receptacle.
10. In a candle socket fittin a lamp receptacle comprisin a screw 5 ell side contact and a slotted insulating-disk arranged standard with relation to the eontaetsf'standards spacing said plug .and center contacts apart and mechanieally end eleetrically connected thereto, in combination with a candle-like tube separate from said arts but freeli sleeving thereover and afforging & casing t erefor in the assembled position of the parts.
