PATENT OFF mmcaron.
Application filed August 20, 1928. Serial No. 180,491.
This invention relates to indicators, primarlly designed for typewriters and its maln object is to provide an indicator in the nature of a clip adapted to be secured to typewriting paper adjacent the bottom thereof to enable typists to ascertain that the bottom 'ofthe sheet is being reached, as the clip indicates the last line to be typed, with the result that uniform margins on typed sheets are assured.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the'several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the platen'of a typewriter and a piece of paper associated therewith, together with the application of the indicator which forms-the subject matter of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a dicator per se. I
Figure 3 is an edge elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawings'in detail the letter A indicates the platen of a typwriter and B a pieces of typewriter paper.
The indicator which is in the nature of a clip is slightly curved upon itself toconform to the curvature of the platen and inperspective view of the includes a body 1 from'which extends a cen- 'trally disposed finger 2. Arranged upon opposite sides of the centrally dis sed finger are fingers 3 and 4 of equal lengt l lint are slightly shorter than the linger 2 so that the indicator can be expeditiously applied to the paperas will be readily apparent.
The indicator is formed of resilient me- I tallic material, and is extremely thin and slightly curved as above set forth, so that it will readily pass-about the platen as will be apparent. The free ends of the fingers are rounded so as to not injure any artvof the typewriter or the paper with WhlCh the indicator is associated with.
From the above description and drawings, it will be obvious that the indicator is adapted to be applied to a sheet of typewritlng paper adjacent the bottom thereof to indicate to the typist that the bottom of the paper is being reached during the typing operation, and the indicator may be colored red or other appropriate color so that it may be readily observed by the typist with the result that uniform margins will be provided on all sheets typed when the indicator is used therewith.
It is thought from the foregoing descrip tion that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fail with- CHARLES M.. NORRIS.
