One object ot my invention is to provide a chatlng shield that will prevent the clothing from irritating the male genitalorgans.

yThe invention consists of the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring to the drawings in detail:

1 is the envelope, made of some soft material.

2 are button holes worked in envelope so that the holders 3 that are attached to sheet i may protrude thru the envelope for attaching chang shield to clothing.

5 is the lower end of the envelope which is left open. rlfhe two holders 6 merely drop thru the opening 5.

The shield sheet 7 consists of a number of sheets of tine waxed paper held together by means or" an adhesive material 8 doubled around the edges. The inner sheets are held by means of scallops 9 cut around the edges of the outer sheets. The adhesive material 8 therefore may hold all sheets the same.

Holes 11 are provided so that the holders 3 may be tied to the shield sheet. ln tying, one end l2 of holder is passed thru hole 1l. End 13 of holder is then passed thru hole 14 and drawn taut.

The shield envelope is a little largei' than the shield sheet, so that the movement of the clothing may move only its outer part, and is open at the bottom so as tovchange the shield .sheet when required. As the shield should be attached straight up and a little loose, it may tend to slide a little toward one side or the other. To prevent this, the side holder serves to hold it in place.

The chafing shield is useless in acute cases of gonorrhoea and similar cases where there is much discharge because it it included absorbent or nonabsorbent material, it would cause heat when sitting. In such cases, it

will do, as soon as the acute stage of the disease is over.

A chafing shield for said purposes and an explanation that it is necessary, should go together. lVhat is self-evident and provable itollows:

The combined action of the legs and body move the clothing enough to irritate, except when walking too slow. The abdomen or upper part of the body lets down the clothing a little and when the leg is tar back, pulls it up again. If the Suspenders are strong, or the clothing too tight, or both, when the free leg moves back, it moves the Vclothing on the other, sideways. In some cases, the irritation happens both ways. Tight clothing also causes pressure when sitting, and pressure is a form of irritation.

Both the rubbing of the clothing and tight clothing may not mean anything when the sex organs are in a perfect state of health, but when any organ of the body is diseased or weak, its sensitiveness is increased, its inner parts shrink at any irritation or pressure, as if in an effort to shun it and consequently weaken or fail to strengthen. For this reason a chang shield is indispensable as a bandage for wounds, to y be used until cured. Vhatever prevents only one source of irritation, such as in the S) case of a chafing shield, may be only a small part of the remedy, especially in germ cases, but it is indispensable to lthat extent. TWhat-v ever irritates or hurts. mental or physical, prevents a cure and therefore whateverv prevents any irritation, is both curative and indispensable. Y

As the disease germs in any one part of any organ affect other' parts of the organ and invariably other organs as well, and as the rubbing of the clothing affects only some parts ot the genitourinary system, a chating shield cannot mean that it will cost less than usual to get a cure, but is` rather' an additional expense. l/Vhether a disease involves six tenths or seven tenths of certain organs, for instance, the difference of one tenth is not enough for a physician to reduce the time and method in treating the case. For these reasons, a chaiing shield l does not even make/it easier to get a real cure, but it makes it more possible.

Since it is probable that the clothing does not irritate enough in some cases, the 1 chating shield is required to consist ot' light and harmless material, s0 that if a patient genital OrgansY from rubbing against the should feel that it is not necessary in his clothing, comprising a sheet of waxed paper, case, say7 after a few weeks, he may 4discard an envelope of soft material surrounding it and be none the Worse for it.
