" J. L. SLOCUMB.
COTTON SCR'APER.
N0.*335,973. Patented Feb. 9, 1886.

JOHN L. SLOOUMB, OF EDVARDS, MISSISSIPPI.
COTTON-SCRAPER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 335,973, dated February 91886.
(No model) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that L JOHN L. SLocUMB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Edwards, in the county of Hinds and State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lCotton Scrapers, of which the following is a specification, refer1A ence being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has for its objects to provide a cotton-scraper which may be cheaply constructed, readily secured to an ordinary plow, and conveniently adjusted to set at any desired angle. as more fully hereinafter speciiied. These objects I attain by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l illustrates an elevation showing oneside cfa-plow having my improved scraper att-ached thereto; Fig. 2, an elevation showing the other side of the plow and scraper; Fig. 3, a perspective View' of a clip-plate detached, which forms part of the scraper, and Fig. 4 a View of an angle-plate and supporting-arm detached, which also form part ot' the scraper.
In the drawings, the letter A indicates a plow, which is of the ordinary construction; B. the plow-beam; O, the handles, and D the plowshare.
E indicates a clip-plate, which has at its lower edge, on one side, asocketed projection, F, and near its upper end a segmental slot, G. The said plate is clamped to the plowbeam by means of the clip H and bolts I, securing the upright K of the plowshare to the beam.
L indicates a curved bar, which extends through the socketed projection F, and which bolted the scraper-blade T, the outer end of said angleplate being secured to the plowbeam' by means of an eyebolt, U.
V indicates a set-screw by means of which the angle plate and scra.perblade may be adjusted at any desired angle.
The height of the scraper-blade, as is evident, may be adjusted by means of the bolt passing through the slots in the upper 'end of the curved bar and the clip-plate.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
Thc coinbinatioii, with the clip-plate, of the curved arm slotted at its upper end and adjustably secured to said plate, the socketed projection through which the arm passes, the angle plate having a recessed socket, into which the lower .end of the curved bar projects, the set-screw, the scraper-blade, and the eyebolt, whereby the angle-plate and scraper may be adjusted, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I aftix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN L. SLOOUMB.
