Be it known that l', Proto liesse, a resident of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State elf Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful lniproveinent in Envelops, and I do hereby dechire the following to be a full, clear, and exact description' thereof.

My invention relates to envelops and has especial reference to safety envelops dcsigned for use by express companies, banks, trust companies, etc.

The object oi iny invention is to provide a cheap, simple, and ellieient forni ol envelop, v

practically impossible to open after sealing 'without inarring, tearing, or destroying the same, as well es one which can be easily handled and sealed by any unskilled person.

illustrated, l is the blank provided with the inflin or address portion 2, frein which extend the end 'llaps 2S, 3', each having a slit 3" therein, providing portions 3" and 3b, the portion 3a on the left-hand side of the drawingr being gunnned on its inner' side alongside the opening or slit, as shown at 4" in full lines, and the portion 3u on the righthand side of the drawing being gunnned on its inner side as shown at 4'. rlhe lower portion of the end ilap at the lelt hand side of the drawing has no geni or sealing niaterial applied to either face, .but the lower portion 3b on theyight hand side is guinnied on its inner side along the outer edge, as Well as a tongue 4 which extends outwardly there# frorn. Connected to the inner' side of the iiap 3' at the inner edge thereof, by the gurnined surface 5', is the inner sealing flap 5, which extends beyond the outer edge of said flap 3', as at 5". Extending l'roin one side of the mein flap 2, is the rear sealing flap 6, which is gunnned et 6' along the inside of each of its ends, and is provided with the three longitudinal cuts or slits 7", Aforming two strips 7, 7', the strip 7 being;r gunnned on the inside as'at 7a. Extending from the Gtherside of the 11min flap 2, is the main sealing flap 8,'Wl1ieh is provided with the curved end edges 8', leading from said front and terminating in the tongue portion 9. Then the other end llap 3 is folded over on the other dotted line a., the two parts of the llap being inserted between the llaps 5 :1nd 3'. The portions 3 ol the two llaps are thus securely held to the lap 5 and to each other, and the portions 3b securely held together, but not to the ilap 5, thus lorining an opening orpocket between the llap 5 and the portions 3b of the ilaps 3, 3',

My improved envelop is now ready for use. The material to be carried therein is placed within the space or pocket C lorrned between the iront 2 and inner llap 5, after which the C niain sealing ilap 8 is bent or folded over on to the flap on the dotted line c, and the envelop is sealed by inserting the tongue 9 ol".

lt will thus be seen that my improved envelop when ready for use and sealed Will prevent any tampering or removing of its contentsiwithout tearing or inarring some part of the same, and in the event of any tamperin Y it would be impossible to restore the enve op to its origina condition.
