"X2: X-Men United" (2003)
To put it simply, this movie delivers in spades everything the first one lacked. The script is far tighter, the stakes are much higher, and the characters really come into their own. " Rewatch Viewing Date: July 20th Via: Disney+ Plot: When anti-mutant Colonel William Stryker kidnaps Professor X and attacks his school, the X-Men must ally with their archenemy Magneto to stop him. Rating: 7.9/10 Why Did I Watch It? I watched this film once and it was 20 years ago. I couldn't remember it, so I felt a rewatch was appropriate with Deadpool and Wolverine looming."
“Not that the first film was bad, because actually I still found it good, well-made fun for all its flaws. It's just that whereas the first X-Men film did feel like the beginning of a franchise that was yet to properly find its feet, it was found with X2. X2 isn't perfect either but still a very good film that is bigger and darker than the first and all the better for it. Again X2 is very well-made, with the dark visual style still maintained yet with a slightly grander look. The photography is beautiful and atmospheric, and the special effects are better here too, they were good in the first that they're slicker, bolder and eye-popping in the way that the first film didn't quite but almost did achieve.
