Biography
CAREER: In his 3-year collegiate career, Smith has 123 tackles, including 8.5 for loss (with 2 sacks), 3 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, 1 QB hurry and an INT, while appearing in 33 games with 22 starts.
2024: Smith, a veteran in the Trojan secondary, will return to make an impact at cornerback as a senior in 2024.
2023: Smith recorded 75 tackles, including 5.5 for loss (with 1 sack), 1 forced fumble, 1 QB hurt and 1 PBU at safety while appearing and starting in 12 games (all but Oregon) as a junior in 2023.
He had a team-leading 8 tackles against San Jose State and 6 tackles, including 2.5 for loss of 12 yards, versus Nevada. He recorded a team-leading 6 tackles, including 1 for loss of 2 yards, against Stanford. He tallied 6 tackles and 1 forced fumble versus Arizona State. He collected 5 tackles against Colorado and a team-leading 10 tackles, including 1 for loss of 4 yards, versus Arizona. He had 2 tackles against Notre Dame and 3 tackles versus Utah. He recorded 10 tackles against California and 1 tackle and 1 PBU versus Washington. 2022: Smith had 37 tackles, including 1 for loss of 4 yards and 2 pass breakups while appearing in 11 games with 9 starts (all but the final 5 games of the season) as a sophomore in 2022.
He had 1 tackle against Rice and 4 tackles against Stanford. He recorded 1 tackle and 1 pass breakup against Fresno State. He tallied 6 tackles at Oregon State and 3 tackles against Arizona State. He notched 5 tackles, including 1 for loss of 4 yards, against Washington State and 7 tackles at Utah. He posted 4 tackles at Arizona and 6 tackles against California.
2021: Smith appeared in USC’s first 10 games (all but BYU and California), with 1 start (at Notre Dame), at safety and on special teams as a first-year freshman in 2021. Overall, in 2021, he had 11 tackles, including 2 for losses of 9 yards (with 1 sack for 6 yards), an interception, a deflection and a forced fumble. He suffered a concussion against UCLA and missed the BYU and California contests.
He had a tackle against San Jose State, a sack at Washington State, a tackle and interception against Oregon State, 5 tackles at Notre Dame, a deflection against Arizona and 3 tackles (1 for a loss) and a forced fumble against UCLA.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2020 PrepStar All-American as a senior cornerback, wide receiver and running back at Bishop Alemany High in Mission Hills (Calif.).
As a 2019 junior, he was All-CIF Division 3 when he had 60 tackles (4 for losses) and 2 interceptions (1 for a TD) on defense, caught 10 passes for 211 yards (21.1 avg) with 2 TD and ran for 159 yards on 14 carries (11.4 avg) with 2 TDs on offense and had 8 kickoff returns for 156 yards (19.5 avg) with a TD and a 40-yard punt return.
As a 2018 sophomore, he had 31 tackles (with a sack), 3 interceptions, 3 deflections and 2 forced fumbles on defense, 12 receptions for 162 yards (13.5 avg) and a 9-yard rush on offense and 3 kickoff returns for 110 yards (36.7 avg) with a TD and 4 punt returns for 37 yards (9.3 avg). Current Trojans Miller Moss and Dylan Gebbia also prepped at Alemany.
PERSONAL: He is majoring in Communication at USC. He was in the Netflix show “Coach Snoop,” about rapper Snoop Dogg and his Snoop Youth Football League.
