Russia’s annual GDP growth in February stands at 0.8%, down from 3% in January

The ministry noted that the overall dynamics of key macroeconomic indicators in February were largely influenced by the calendar factor, as February 2025 had one fewer day than February 2024

MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russia’s annual GDP growth in February reached 0.8%, compared to 3% in January, according to the Ministry of Economic Development’s review of the current economic situation.

"According to the assessment of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, GDP growth in February 2025 amounted to 0.8% following a 3.0% increase in January," the report said.

The ministry noted that the overall dynamics of key macroeconomic indicators in February were largely influenced by the calendar factor, as February 2025 had one fewer day than February 2024.

"A single additional working day can cause statistical fluctuations of several percentage points. Excluding this factor, the economy’s growth rate in February would have been comparable to that of January," the ministry’s press service stated.

The ministry added that annual inflation accelerated to 10.24% over the week from March 25 to 31 from 10.11% a week earlier. "Inflation stood at 0.2% from March 25 to 31, 2025. Food inflation amounted to 0.28% during the reporting week. Prices changed by 1.32% for fruits and vegetables. Price growth rates remained at the last week level for other foods," the ministry said.

Prices changed by 0.05% in the non-food segment. Prices continued going down for electric and domestic appliances. Price dynamics in the services sector was 0.14%, the ministry noted.
