President Donald Trump’s old boasts about being the only person who can boost the stock market resurfaced as share prices continued to plunge amid uncertainty over his economic agenda and growing fears of a recession.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper pointed out Monday how Trump has “often tied a president’s performance as a leader to the stock market.”

Cooper aired a montage of 2024 campaign clips in which Trump predicted a “Kamala economic crash” if Democratic nominee Kamala Harris entered the White House instead of him.

It also showed Trump repeatedly warning voters that the stock market’s success was “contingent on MAGA winning the next election.”

The Republican Accountability group also reminded voters of Trump’s brags that now appear to be going awry.

Its supercut featured footage of Trump campaigning on creating the “biggest economic boom in American history” and turning an “economic nightmare into an economic miracle” alongside a graph showing the decline in the market.
