Are the winners of the 2025 Oscars written in the stars? The Academy Awards unfold this weekend. We asked tarot readers and astrologers — including myself — to predict the winners for best actor, best actress and best picture.
Spiritual practicioners used a range of methods to determine likely winners.
For the best actor and best actress categories, astrologers looked to nominees' and creators' natal charts and how they intersected with the event chart of the Academy Awards, using the event's start time. Tarot readers pulled cards for nominees and weighed the outcomes against one another.
For best picture, we stuck to pulling tarot cards for the 10 nominees.
Check out 97th Academy Awards airs on Sunday, March 2 to see if our predictions are correct.

Nominees
- Demi Moore for "The Substance"
- Fernanda Torres for "I’m Still Here"
- Cynthia Erivo for "Wicked"
- Karla Sofía Gascón for "Emilia Pérez"
- Mikey Madison for "Anora"
Overall Pick: Demi Moore
Astrologer Renee Watt believes that “the cosmos shine favorably" on Moore to win, thanks to a stellium in her first house of recognition, individuality, and public persona. "She’s celestially poised to be the center of attention," Watt says. Watt believes Cynthia Erivo also has a good chance of winning (and getting an EGOT), sharing that “the Aries moon transits her natal moon, but since her birth time is not available online, it’s difficult to make a solid call.”
I believe Moore and fellow first-time nominee Fernanda Torres are both having luck this year due to the auspicious planet Jupiter. However, I believe the winner will ultimately be Moore. The transiting North Node of Destiny aligning with her Pisces ascendent means that her status is about to change. Further, her natal Jupiter in Pisces connects with the North Node of Destiny proving that this is a fated accomplishment.
Tarot reader Marguerite Recupero also thinks things look favorable for Moore. Recupero pulled the Knight of Pentacles in her tarot card spread, which she says speaks to a "long hard battle won and fortunes shifting." She continues, "This spark of joy is overdue and well deserved."
Tarot reader Caitlin McGarry suggests Demi Moore will win, since she pulled the Seven of Pentacles, the card of "progress, patience, perseverance, and positive outcomes." The card "serves as a reminder that excellent things take time to develop which is a reflection of her career as well," she continues.
Tarot reader Fernando Salinas believes Torres is in a "good position" to take the Oscar after pulling the Queen of Cups. He also thinks it could be Erivo, with the 10 of Cups, the card of "love, harmony, and joy" coming her way. Or, the card simply represents how her turn as the green witch brought people together.

Nominees:
- Timothée Chalamet for "A Complete Unknown"
- Adrien Brody for "The Brutalist"
- Ralph Fiennes for "Conclave"
- Sebastian Stan for "The Apprentice"
- Colman Domingo for "Sing Sing"
Overall Pick: Too close to call, but likely Adrien Brody
Astrologer Meghan Rose picks Adrien Brody for his role in "The Brutalist," since his natal Saturn and Midheaven, both in the sign of Gemini, are lit up by the transiting Jupiter in Gemini. Brody's natal Mercury in Pisces is meeting up with the North Node of Destiny, also in Pisces. "This tells the story of an actor (Mercury’s influence of communication, characters, and ideation) aligning with his legacy role," she says.
Astrologer MaKayla McRae thinks Timothée Chalamet looks like a favorite to win. The transiting North Node will be conjunct with his natal moon, showing a "time in his life full of destined breakthroughs," McRae says. She also points to Saturn transiting his natal Saturn the night of the Oscars, calling it a "peak moment of his Saturn return."
Astrologer Lauren Ash has two potential winners, but favors one. Her first pick is Ralph Fiennes. "Mars is transiting his Jupiter in Cancer, creating a strong flow of positive energy that helps him push past limitations,” Ash says. Colman Domingo has Saturn trining his natal Venus, "bringing a favorable energy to his creative projects." At the very least, she says "he’s sure to rock the red carpet in style."
I'm personally torn between Domingo, Brody and Fiennes. It’s a hard decision to make! The moon in Aries during the awards will aspect Brody’s chart in positive ways, proving that he could walk away with the Oscar. However, Domingo is going through this nodal return, which occurs every 18 to 19 years, alluding to a victory that is imminent. Also, Fiennes is bringing positive changes to his orb due to Jupiter linking up with the North Node of Destiny — so he’s in a great position to achieve his goals.
Best picture winner, according to astrology
- "Anora"
- "Dune Part 2"
- "Emilia Pérez"
- "The Substance"
- "A Complete Unknown"
- "Wicked"
- "The Brutalist"
- "I’m Still Here"
- "Nickel Boys"
- "Conclave"
Overall Pick: 'Anora' or' The Brutalist'
Tarot reader Blue June narrowed down the winners to "The Substance," "Anora" and "The Brutalist," but thinks "Anora" will win because she pulled a Major Arcana card, The Tower. The powerful nature of this card in comparison to the other two movies’ (Ace and Two of Wands) "Anora" is likely the winner, she says.
Tarot reader Sarah Potter pulled The Chariot for "Conclave," indicating a major victory. "I always look for its appearance when making awards season predictions," she says. The card was followed by the King of Pentacles, a card that shows "pride and recognition of accomplishments."
Tarot reader Theresa Reed (AKA The Tarot Lady) pulled The World for "Anora," making the night bode well for Sean Baker's film. "The World is the strongest card amongst the other pics, so this looks like the odds are in their favor," she says.
For this category, I pulled Major Arcana cards for the four movies I determined were front-runners. For "The Brutalist," I got The Star, which was a hopeful and good omen. "Conclave" got The Chariot, so that also looks promising and full speed ahead for a win. The other two movies indicated fandom, but not a win. For "Anora," I got "The Lovers," meaning people felt for the characters. Finally, for "The Substance," I got The Fool, indicating the film's truly original premise.
