This article is more than 7 years old

Another football icon honoured by a statue has attracted widespread attention and ridicule. A bronze sculpture of the Argentina great, Diego Maradona, was unveiled at a club in Kolkata, although the dubious likeness to the 1986 World Cup winner has been the subject of much online mockery. The 12-foot statue features the 1986 World Cup winner with a healthy head of hair, with one online commenter saying it looked more like ‘someone’s gran’ than Maradona.
