We think it’s time to leave leap seconds in the past. ⏳ Adding seconds to timing systems to account for the long-term slowdown of the Earth’s rotation is an old practice that has outlived its usefulness. Meanwhile, new timing protocols like Precision Time Protocol (PTP) are making data center systems more accurate and precise than they’ve ever been.
