We need to have honest conversations about race and opportunity, says finance executive Mellody Hobson. Here’s how she says we can approach it with understanding and courage: http://t.ted.com/YSIfU8P
Ms. Mellody Hobson’s presentation is a powerful reminder of how essential it is to face the uncomfortable realities of race and opportunity. She does not just highlight the need for open conversations; she urges us to engage in them honestly and be willing to understand, even when it is complicated. What stands out is her emphasis on courage, not just speaking but listening and acting with empathy. She challenges us to move beyond the superficial and dive into the complexities of race, offering a roadmap for how these discussions can lead to tangible change. It is a call to look inward, confront biases, and, ultimately, create a world where opportunity is genuinely accessible for all.
While conversations about race can be uncomfortable, avoiding them only perpetuates the issues. Addressing race, especially in the context of diversity in hiring, is essential for creating more inclusive, innovative, and successful businesses.
Honest conversations about race and opportunity must go beyond dialogue—they must dismantle power structures. The Privileged Core thrives on performative discussions that acknowledge disparities without redistributing power. The Intersectional Majority doesn’t need awareness—we need access, equity, and systemic shifts. Conversations without concrete action risk becoming intellectual pacifiers that maintain the status quo. Courage isn’t just talking—it’s challenging, redistributing, and rebuilding. Who’s ready for that level of honesty?
Les conversations sur la race peuvent être difficiles, voire conflictuelles. Il est essentiel de créer des espaces sûrs et respectueux où les gens peuvent s'exprimer librement, écouter attentivement et apprendre les uns des autres
Race is not about color! Why is it always about color?? You can have different races within the same color groups!
Not because it's the right thing but smart thing hmmm 🤔

There is no racial problem in the U.S. Just mostly Blacks exploiting it for Power and Money..

4hValid, impactful, and deeply helpful. However, many avoid discussions about the "R" issue simply because it is more convenient not to engage. Societal norms and entrenched hierarchies continue to overlook this reality, perpetuating injustices and systems designed to favor the few over the many. This issue even influenced the recent election in one of the world's largest economies, and now people everywhere are experiencing the consequences of failing to confront it. 🙄
