Alice Jovanée (she/her) is a commerce writer, and she has been writing about gaming and tech since 2005. Prior to Polygon, she worked at publications such as The Verge.
Working as a servant in the emperor’s palace, Maomao’s observant and curious demeanor allows her to diagnose symptoms that go unnoticed by the palace physician. This eventually earns her the respect of high-ranking officials and places her in the middle of an elaborate plot against the imperial family. If you want to see how the rest of the story unfolds, the second half of the first season will also be available on Blu-ray starting Mar. 25, but you can already pre-order a copy from Crunchyroll for $52.49.
