The quartermaster, John, an unsuccessful rival, and addicted to drink, takes advantage of his rank to humiliate and bully Peter. One day, while intoxicated, John obtrudes himself upon Elsie, and is thrashed by Peter, who is arrested. The intoxicated quartermaster loses his balance and falls into the sea and Peter rescues him.
