After her abusive husband [Paapa Essidu] ends their relationship by taking his own life, Harper [Jessie Buckley] retreats to a stately mansion in a picturesque village. After landlord Geoffrey [Rory Kinnear] has shown her around the spacious house, Harper takes a walk in the area. There she sees for the first time a strange appearance that continues to haunt her literally and figuratively. Most of the male characters are played by or feature Kinnear's face, although it's a mystery why. Probably Alex Garland's attempt to wrap a fairly superficial melodrama about grief, guilt and self-forgiveness in a horror jacket. In any case, he uses it as an excuse to beat you as a viewer with a lot of bizarre, but quite random visual feats. It seems to be scary, but it is above all very strange. And what it means is a complete mystery to me.

Alex Garland, I mainly knew as the author of 28 Days Later, Sunshine and later Dredd. His directorial debut: Ex Machina, was an interesting debut, but I think he really broke through with annihilation.

His latest film Men is a great film about letting go and accepting mistakes and the strength of the man. The actors act great. Jessie Buckley plays a widower,

who with an enormous sense of guilt retreats to a country house in the countryside in England. There he meets caretaker Geoffrey, played by Rory Kinnear. He comes very nice, fun and sympathetic. Kinnear instantly knows how to grab the viewer, and '''''spoiler'''''''''multiple characters Surprised

The film is beautifully shot. The English scenery with the evening setting and good use of light was amazing.

I had goosebumps almost the entire movie. Garland knows how to build the story through the eyes of Buckley's character, combined with the location and camera work. Haven't seen such an effective slo-burn scary horror since Hereditary. Disappointed with third act. Like annihilation, Garland comes up with something that makes you think apart, does this fit with the first two acts? It was something I had never seen before and it was fascinating but it took too long for me. It was as if Garland had been unsubscribed.
