Um bei den sonst anerkannten Vorzügen des Holzschuhes dem Uebelstande, dafs die aus einem Stück gefertigte Holzsohle den Bewegungen des Fufses beim Schreiten nicht folgen kann, abzuhelfen, ist die nachstehend beschriebene Vorrichtung getroffen worden. Die Holzsohle α ist in der Mitte des Gelenkes getheilt und zwar in der Weise, dafs ein nach oben sich verbreiterndes keilförmiges Stück aus der Mitte .des Gelenks genannten Theiles der Sohle herausgenommen worden ist. In diesen Ausschnitt wird ein seiner ganzen Länge nach durchbohrtes Stück Kautschuk b von gleichem Querschnitte eingesetzt und mit den Berührungsflächen der Sohle verleimt. Aufserdem bilden an jeder Längsseite von oben nach unten durch den halben Querschnitt des Einsatzstückes in die Sohle geschlagene eiserne Stifte vermehrte und schwer zerstörbare Verbindungen zwischen dem Gummieinsatzstück und den beiden Sohlentheilen.
