Es hat sich bei dem Mälzerei- bezw. Darrbetriebe herausgestellt, die Zeitdauer des Processes thunlichst zu vergröfsern. Die ursprünglich kleineren Anlagen sind nun infolge dieses Umstandes nicht mehr ausreichend bezw. leistungsfähig und werden vergröfsert. Bei aufmerksamer Beobachtung meines Heizapparates habe ich gefunden, dafs die Luft zwischen den beiden äufseren Cylindern C3 und C4 desselben die zum Trocknen bezw. Abschwelgen geeignetste Temperatur hat, nämlich höchstens 300R., gewöhnlich 16 bis 200R. Da diese Temperatur in der oberen, zumal der obersten Hordenetage nothwendig ist, so hat mich dies veranlafst, diese Luft im Raum C unterhalb der sogen. Sau D abzufangen und dieselbe durch die Kanäle η η und m m abzuleiten. Die bei F aus dem Apparat aussteigende und das Hordensystem von B bis A passirende heifse Luft wird nun durch die aus den Kanälen η η mm austretende kältere Luft zurückgedrückt und dadurch ein gutes Trocknen ohne zu rasches und nachtheiliges Erhitzen auf der obersten bezw. Schwelghorde hervorzurufen. Es sind ferner in dem den Raum C nach unten abschliefsenden Gewölbe einige Luftklappen \ \ angeordnet. Die geforderten gröfseren Darren ergaben, wie das nahe liegt, eine rechteckige Grundrifsform und wurden mit zwei Schwadenabzügen E und E1 ausgerüstet, und die Feuergase im Heizapparat nunmehr auch getheilt, so dafs diese auch durch zwei Schornsteine ins Freie geführt wurden. Die horizontalen Rohre g und h bezw. Kanäle, welche den Heizapparat mit den Schornsteinen s s verbinden, liegen in dem Raum C, dadurch ist auch die bedeutende Feuergefährlichkeit beseitigt, welche bisher bei allen liegenden Heizrohrsystemen unterhalb der Horden obwaltete. Die Construction des Heizapparates selbst hat die Aenderung erfahren, dafs an Stelle der beiden inneren glatten Heizcylinder solche mit wellenförmigen Mantelflächen angebracht wurden.
