The invention relates to a writing form, and in particular to a writing form, which, unlike forms with a letterhead, is adapted to record written information from a calculator's printing equipment, and which comprises a writing path having spaced apart groups of parallel blocks extending across the track.

In some form of form material, a writing path is provided with mutually spaced groups of parallel lines extending across this path. The lines are printed in ink that has a color that contrasts with the color of the writing material, but has a pale hue so that it does not blur the letter and number characters that are later printed on it. Usually the color of the lines is pale blue or pale green. The groups of lines and the spaces between them are arranged so that the information lines printed on the forms are placed consecutively on the groups of lines and in the spaces between them, and the contrast of the color in the groups of lines and the writing material supports the reading of the information. However, when the eye has read the print for some time, the regularity of the spaced groups of lines means that the information may inadvertently go and be omitted.

Further, from the specification of Danish Patent Application No. 4258/74, form material is known which comprises a sheet of spaced groups of parallel blocks extending across the sheet.

From the abstract to Canadian Patent Specification No. 815,415 there is known an accounting form which has a series of blocks and lines. This accounting form is suitable for recording a single data transaction.

The writing form material of the invention is characterized in that between the groups of two or more blocks are provided transverse lines which are thinner than the blocks, and that each block is formed by several parallel lines extending diagonally with respect to the longitudinal axes of the block. This results in a writing material which ensures a relatively easy reading of the printed information lines, and which at the same time avoids the problem that some of the lines tend to coalesce and thus some of the information may inadvertently go and be left out .

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing, in which fig. 1 is a front view of part of a known writing form; FIG. 2 is a front view of a preferred embodiment of the writing form according to the invention; FIG. 3 is a front view of part of a writing web of a writing form according to the invention; and FIG. 4 is a front view of another embodiment of a writing form according to the invention.

The FIG. 1, which is suitable for receiving information from a calculator's printing equipment, generally comprises a single writing path 2, but may also comprise two or more such paths between which transmission material 3 is inserted to facilitate the reading of the information written on such a web, each web is provided with groups of parallel lines 4 extending across the web, and these groups being spaced apart. Furthermore, these groups of lines 4 are positioned so that information lines written on each lane are received alternately on the groups of lines 4 and in spacing 5 between them. In this way, the printed information lines are separated from each other and the information can be read much easier than if they were written on plain paper. When reading the information over a longer period of time, the regular effect of the spaced groups of lines causes the information to coincide with the result that some of the information may inadvertently go and be omitted.

However, a more satisfactory way of separating lines of printed information has been found. This is accomplished by providing the writing paths of the form materials with the one shown in FIG. 2 and 3.

Here, a form 6 includes a writing path 7 provided along the rim with perforations 8 so that it can be advanced via the feed device of the data equipment. On this web 7, groups 9 are spaced apart, consisting of three parallel blocks 10 extending across the web, and between each of the adjacent groups 9 are printed two transversely. lines 11 which are thinner than each of the blocks 10 in the groups. The blocks 10 and line rows 11 are positioned such that lines of printed information are aligned with the blocks or lines, respectively, in such a way that they are placed either in the blocks or in spaces between the lines 11, as shown in FIG. 3 · The recurring pattern of groups of three blocks 10 followed by two lines 11 on which lines of information are printed tend to split or dissolve the information as the eye passes down the printed information lines, thereby reducing any tendency to inadvertently skipping the information.

The blocks 10 and the lines 11 are printed on the printing pad 7 with brown ink. It has been found that the information printed on print cartridges with brown ink is easier to read, especially under fluorescent light conditions than if they were printed with blue or green ink.

Also photocopies of print cartridges with brown ink give a background to the printed information of the same state as the original. If the webs are printed in blue or green inks, some of the efficiency is lost when the webs that are provided with printed information are photocopied.

For ease of reference, the groups of blocks and the intermediate parallel lines are numbered consecutively in the longitudinal direction of the form material 6 along the right margin and each of the blocks and the spaces between the block groups delimited by the lines are numbered consecutively those along the left margin. These individual numbers on the left side are spaced apart at intervals of 4.23 mm.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 of the embodiment of the form according to the invention, the blocks having a spacing of 4.23 mm are arranged in groups of three blocks, so that these three blocks together form a group of 12.7 mm. Line spacing of 4.23 mm or 3.175 mm can thus be adapted to such 12.7 mm blocks.
