Abstract

The system for joining the two ends of a broken bone, for osteosynthesis includes inserting two internally threaded bushes in each of the two ends. A hole is made down the centre at the two ends of the bones, then holes are drilled at right angles through the bone walls each side of the fracture. By using a jig parallel with the bone, internally threaded dowels are inserted in the holes, pushed in by rods extending from the jig. a spindle is then inserted down the centre of the two ends, bridging the fracture. This locates between the pairs of dowels, and has a shoulder at the top, which rests on the upper pair.
