Abstract

The tyre bead core forming strip is of tapered cross-section, its thinner edge being longer than the thicker one. It can be of steel, and is cross-section it can taper evenly from the thicker to the thinner edge. It can be formed by a series of components alongside each other, and engaging together or fitting closely against each other, and each of quadrilateral section, no two sides being parallel. The strip can be wound into a ring thickest in the radial direction, its innermost wall being conical. Where it is made up of a number of strips, the turns can be held together by clips or bands at intervals round the periphery.
