Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of general formula <FORM:1012313/C2/1> in which each of R1, R2 and R3 is hydrogen or methyl; each of R4 and R5 is alkyl (1-4 C) or R4 and R5 are together an alkylene radical of 4-5 C which may have interposed a nitrogen atom substituted with an alkyl radical of 1-4 C or an oxygen atom, with the proviso that when R5 is alkyl R4 together with R1, R2 or R3 may form a straight chain alkylene radical of 2-4 C; and R6 is hydrogen chlorine, alkoxy (1-4 C) or alkylmercapto (1-4 C): their cis-trans isomers: their acid addition salts: and their preparation by dehydration of corresponding 4 - hydroxy - 4 - substituted - thienobenzthiapyrans by use of an organic acid anhydride, a phosphorus halide or oxyhalide or by merely heating below the decomposition temperature of the product; the starting materials may be first prepared by the process of Specification 1,012,314. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds (I) and acid addition salts of the invention with inert carriers. Neuroplegic and antihistaminic activity is mentioned.
