Abstract

1,020,279. Drying grain &c. BEDFORD SHEET METAL CO. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1965 [Nov. 17, 1964], No. 46792/64. Heading F4G. [Also in Division A2] Apparatus for drying grain &c. for use with a main duct or chamber which may be as described in Specification 1,019,187, comprises lateral ducts 1 of sheet metal and of arched or inverted U cross-section, and the side walls of which along the lower regions 2 are provided by slitting and forming the metal sheet with horizontal rows of horizontally extending louvred openings 3 staggered from one row to another. The openings 3 allow drying air to escape downwardly and outwardly while the openings are shielded from the downward entry of the bed of grain &c. thereabove, the upper or apex portion 4 being left imperforate. The lower edges of the lateral ducts are flanged and may have reinforcing strips. The main duct may also be of arched or inverted U-section formed from rectangular metal panels 11 strengthened by angleirons 12 which may extend above the apex of the arch or inverted U-structure to form a vertical partition 13 of panels.
