Abstract

1,039,435. Reciprocating conveyers; discharging hoppers. WEZATA-MELINS A.B. March 24, 1965 [March 24, 1964], No. 12412/65. Headings B8A and B8S. Books are discharged in pairs from the bottom of a hopper 2 by a reciprocating slide assembly 7 provided with pivoted dogs 5a, 5b. These may be of nylon and are normally urged to the positions shown by springs 22, Fig. 2 (not shown). To enable different sized books to be conveyed, the wall 2b of the hopper and the dogs may be vertically adjustable. The reciprocal movement of bars 8 of the slide 7 is produced by double-acting pneumatic or hydraulic means 13 which is connected by arms 11, 12, 15 to the bars 8. The arms 11, 15 are connected via a friction coupling 16. An actuator 20, co-operating with the coupling 16, causes the operation of the slide 7 to be interrupted if the feeding is disturbed, e.g. by a damaged book. A belt conveyer 3 feeds books to the top of the hopper 2.
