Abstract

1,055,475. Incandescent electric lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 22, 1963 [Oct. 22, 1962], No. 41660/63. Heading H1F. A tubular lamp having a longitudinally extending filament 5 supported by a plurality of spaced conducting support members 9 has a reflector 7 mounted within and extending longitudinally of the envelope 1, projections 6 extending from the inner surface of the envelope securing the support members and the reflector on diametrically opposite sides of the envelope and preventing electrical contact between them. The supports 9 may be in the form of discs with part of the surface out away to leave a sector-shaped part and a central circular part having a slot 11 for insertion of the filament which may be held in place by tongues extending from the centre of the disc. Alternatively, the supports may consist of a wire having several helical turns enclosing the filament and legs with bent over ends which engage the envelope adjacent the projections 6. The reflector may be of thin metal sheet and need not correspond to the curvature of the envelope. It may be strengthened by tabs spot-welded to each end. Stops may be provided on the envelope to prevent the reflector moving longitudinally.
