Abstract

1,061,017. Tyre treads. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Oct. 29, 1964 [Nov. 19, 1963], No. 45536/63. Heading B7C. A tyre tread is formed from a vulcanized composition of a butadiene-styrene copolymer having a styrene content between 30% and 60% by weight together with 15 to 45 parts by weight of carbon black per 100 parts of copolymer (or copolymer plus oil if it is oilextended), vulcanizing ingredients, and fillers other than carbon black. Preferably the range of styrene and carbon black content is 35 to 55% and 30 to 45 parts respectively and the composition contains hydrocarbon extending oil in a proportion of less than 50 parts per 100 parts by weight of copolymer.
