Supporting.-An electric or other lamp and its fittings are mounted in a compartment in the roof or wall of a building by means of two pairs of levers, one or more of the bearings of which are friction bearings, the levers being so arranged that, when the lamp is pulled out of the compartment, the lamp is turned over to facilitate cleaning. In one form, the compartment is provided with a glazed side l and a door k, and is so constructed that only air external to the building can circulate through it. The electric lamp is supported in a holder a carrying the reflector and mounted by means of trunnions b upon a pair of levers c and by means of friction bearings e on a pair of hollow levers f pivoted to friction bearinga g. The lamp is pulled out of the compartment by a handle m on the pair of levers c, and the wires to the lamp pass through either or both of the levers f.
