Abstract
Novel compounds of formula <FORM:1079414/C2/1> in which each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 represents an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1-4 carbon atoms, a halogen atom, or a trifluoromethyl group, and each of n, m, p and q equals 0 or 1, are prepared by reacting an appropriately substituted salicylic acid with phosphorus oxychloride and phenol to give the phenyl ester, converting the ester to a salicyl-anilide by fusing the ester with an appropriately substituted aniline, preparing an alkali metal derivative of this compound and reacting the alkali metal derivative with ethyl chloracetate, and hydrolysing the ethyl 2-(N-phenyl)-carbamoyl-phenoxyacetate formed.
