Abstract
A wetting agent showing a levelling action and reduced formation of foam comprises a mixture containing (a) branched aliphatic carboxylic esters of formula <FORM:1120254/C4-C5/1> wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different, saturated or unsaturated alkyl radicals having 4-18 carbon atoms, at least one of the alkyl radicals having one or more branched chains of 1-4 carbon atoms, (b) phosphoric acid esters which may be partially saponified, of aliphatic alcohols containing from 4 to 18 carbon atoms, (c) small amounts of fatty acids or soaps, (d) high-molecular weight alkoxylates of aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydroxyl compounds and/or salts of alkylsulphuric acid esters and/or salts of aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic sulphonic acids. Optional additives may include polyphosphates, metaphosphates etc.ALSO:A wetting agent showing a levelling action and reduced formation of foam when added to dyebaths, comprises (a) an aliphatic carboxylic acid ester of the formula <FORM:1120254/D1-D2/1> wherein R1 and R2 represent the same or different alkyl radicals each of which contains from 4 to 18 carbon atoms, and at least one of which contains one or more branch chains of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, (b) a phosphoric acid ester, which may be partially saponified, of an aliphatic alcohol that contains 4 to 18 carbon atoms (c) a fatty acid or soap (d) as wetting agent, a high molecular weight alkoxylate of an aliphatic or an aliphatic-aromatic hydroxy compound, a salt of an alkyl sulphuric acid ester, a salt of an aliphatic or aliphatic-aromatic sulphonic acid, or a mixture of these compounds. Optionally polyphosphates and metaphosphates may also be present. Examples are given in which the above wetting agent is added to baths used in dyeing textile materials such as tent cloth and cotton yarn, specified dyes being bis-benzanthreneperi-thiophene, a mixture of a reactive dyestuff of the formula <FORM:1120254/D1-D2/2> and a phthalocyanine reactive dyestuff obtained by reaction of copper phthalocyanine-(3)-tetrasulphonic acid chloride with the acid sulphuric ester of b -hydroxyethyl-(4-amino)-phenyl sulphone (see Specification 981,191), and the dyestuff identified as C.I. No. 71000.
