Abstract
1,163,089. Reciprocating pumps. UNIPAT A.G. June 19, 1967 [July 6, 1966], No. 30249/66. Heading F1A. An axial piston pump or motor has a rotary cylinder block 13 radially supported on the drive shaft 16 by a wear ring 41 of a material, e.g. bronze, after than the block and shaft material, e.g. steel, the wear ring permitting slight pivotal movement of the block for alignment with ported valve member 11. Ring 41 is located at the intersection of rotary axis 44 with a plane 45 passing through the centres 46 of the ball joints 28 coupling pistons 27 to slippers 29. The cylinder block and drive shaft are coupled by splines 40. Cam plate 19 may be fixed or tiltable by operating shaft 21. Slippers 29 are held against cam plate 19 by plate 31 located by hemispherical member 33. The cylinder block is biased against valve member 11, and member 33 is biased towards cam plate 19, by a spring 50. The wear ring 41 may have cylindrical, part-spherical, tapered or chamfered surfaces. The ratio of the length of the ring 41 to its diameter is less than one third.
