A space heater comprises an insulated resistance wire 6 embedded in concrete (2), 5, 5a and wound in sinuous form about spacers 7, embedded in the concrete, the ends of wire 6 being connected to terminals 10. The heater has a backing of fibre glass (3, Fig. 2) and front tiles 11.
