Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A distribution track A carrying bus-bars 14 receives a lamp support box B having a stepped top 17 containing spring tongues movable by a knob or lever operated cam to a first position where tongues 19, 20 project part-way into slots 15 so that box B is retained and is slidable in track A, and a second position where tongues 19, 20 abut the bases of slots 15 to lock box B in position and tongues 22, 23 make electrical contact with bus-bars 14. Bus-bars 14 are supported by plastics strips 11 12 in track A suspended from a support by tubes 16. A casing 10 of track A may be formed from insulatively-coated light metal, with the coating removed at faces 25 so that a flat contact 21 may make an earthing connection in the first position of the cam. Box B has a shoulder 18 which mates with a corresponding recess in casing 10 so that box B is inserted in the correct direction, thus ensuring the making of the earthing connection. The cam is provided with a click-stop action for its various positions. A plurality of pairs of bus-bars may be provided, and a corresponding number of contact tongues.
